For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses
that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter
the kingdom of heaven. Matt. 5:20
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its
saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything,
except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill
cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it
under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone
in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before
others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matt. 5:13-16
Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s
eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me
take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own
eye? You hypocrite, first
take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the
speck from your brother’s eye. Matt.
7:3-5
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot
bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and
thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on
the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For
by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my
disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For
whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for
me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet
forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? For the
Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will
reward each person according to what they have done.

Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the
master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their
food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant
whose master finds him doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put
him in charge of all his possessions. But suppose that servant
is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’ and
he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.
The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not
expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him
to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping
and gnashing of teeth.

Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples
and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up
their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their
life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will
save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world,

what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? If anyone is
ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of
Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy

concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 3 What
you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have
whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.
Luke12:1-3

obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make

obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be
wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. Acts 3:19
In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he
commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day
when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has
given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.” Acts 17:30-31

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive
to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in
your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not
offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather
offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and
offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For
sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but

Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an
obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. Rom 8:12
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Rom. 12:2
Or do you not know that wrongdoers will
not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually
immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor
drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And
that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you
were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our
God. 1 Cor. 6:9-11
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person
commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own
body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the
Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your
own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with
your bodies. 1 Cor. 6:18-20
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” Come
back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are
ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.
1 Cor. 15:33-34
Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends,
let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit,
perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
2Cor. 7:1
If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will
be destroyed by each other. Gal. 5:15
The acts of the flesh are obvious:
sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and
witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition,
dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the
like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not
inherit the kingdom of God. Gal.
5:19-20
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps
what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the
flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit
will reap eternal life. Gal. 6:7-8
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a
life worthy of the calling you have received. Eph. 4:1
So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that
you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.
Eph. 4:17
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life,
to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires.
Eph. 4:22
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual
immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper
for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish
talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For
of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is
an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.[a] 6 Let no one deceive you
with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are
disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them. Eph. 5:3-7
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the
Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light
consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find
out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the
fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 It is
shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But
everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is
illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said: “Wake
up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Be
very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise.
Eph. 5:8-15
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in
a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Phil 1:27
Join together in following my example,
brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on
those who live as we do. 18 For, as I have often told you
before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the
cross of Christ. 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is
their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly
things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly
await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by
the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will
transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. Therefore,
my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand
firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!
Phil 3:17-4:1
Once you were alienated from God and
were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he
has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy
in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation! Col.1:21-22
Put to death, therefore, whatever
belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires
and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of
God is coming.[a] 7 You used to walk in these
ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid
yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and
filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other,
since you have taken off your old self with its practices. Col. 3:5-9
It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you
should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn
to control your own body[a] in a way that is holy and
honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not
know God; 6 and that in this matter no one should wrong or take
advantage of a brother or sister.[b] The Lord will punish all
those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. 7 For God did not call us
to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8 Therefore, anyone
who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very
God who gives you his Holy Spirit.
1Thes. 4:3-8
You are all children of the light and children of the
day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So
then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.
7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk,
get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be
sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as
a helmet.
1Thes. 5:5-8
Reject every kind of evil. May
God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept
blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Thes. 5:22-23
So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast
to the teachings[a] we passed on to you,
whether by word of mouth or by letter.

Have nothing to
do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.
8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has
value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to
come. 1Tim. 4:7-8
Guard what has
been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing
ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, 21 which some have
professed and in so doing have departed from the faith. 1Tim. 6:20-21
Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands
firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and,
“Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”
In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver,
but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common
use. 21 Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be
instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared
to do any good work.
Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue
righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out
of a pure heart. 2Tim. 2:19-22
At one time we
too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions
and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.
4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he
saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his
mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy
Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus
Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his
grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This
is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those
who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is
good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
But avoid foolish
controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because
these are unprofitable and useless. Titus 3:3-9
Confident of your
obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask.
Philemon 1:21
We must pay the
most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not
drift away. Hebrews 2:1
See to it,
brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that
turns away from the living God. Heb. 3:12
Nothing in all
creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare
before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Heb. 4:13
If we
deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth,
no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful
expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of
God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy
on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more
severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son
of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant
that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For
we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[a] and again, “The Lord will judge his
people.”[b] Heb. 10:26-30
Make every effort
to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see
the Lord. 15 See to it that no one falls short of the grace of
God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. 16 See
that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal
sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son. 17 Afterward, as
you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though
he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done. Heb. 12:14-17
Therefore, get
rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the
word planted in you, which can save you. James 1:21
Those who consider themselves religious and
yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their
religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts
as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their
distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:26-27
Speak and act as
those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom. James 2:12
With the tongue
we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been
made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise
and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can
both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My
brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs?
Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. James 3:9-12
You adulterous
people,[a] don’t you know that friendship with the
world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of
the world becomes an enemy of God. James

Come near to God
and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your
hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change
your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble
yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:8-10
Therefore, with
minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought
to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14 As
obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in
ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy
in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am
holy.” 1Peter 1:13-16
Therefore, rid
yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every
kind. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that
by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have
tasted that the Lord is good. 1Peter

For you have
spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in
debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. 4 They
are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and
they heap abuse on you. 5 But they will have to give account to
him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 1Peter 4:3-5
For this very
reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness,
knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to
self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and
to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For
if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from
being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But
whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have
been cleansed from their past sins.
2Peter 1:5-9
Since everything
will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You
ought to live holy and godly lives!
2Peter 3:11
So then, dear
friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found
spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
2Peter 3:14
Whoever claims to live in him must live as
Jesus did. 1John 2:6
Do not love the
world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them. 1John 2:15
No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No
one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. 1John 3:6
This is how we
know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his
commands. 1John 5:2
We know that anyone born of God does not
continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one
cannot harm them. 1John 5:18
Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue
in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching
has both the Father and the Son. 2John

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but
what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is
evil has not seen God. 3John 1:11
See, the Lord is
coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15 to
judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have
committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners
have spoken against him.” Jude 1:14-15
Consider how far
you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not
repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. Rev.2:5
Nevertheless, I
have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the
teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that
they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality. 15 Likewise,
you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. 16 Repent
therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with
the sword of my mouth. Rev.2:14-16
Nevertheless, I have this against you: You
tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she
misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to
idols. 21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality,
but she is unwilling. 22 So I will cast her on a bed of
suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely,
unless they repent of her ways. 23 I will strike her children
dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and
minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. Rev.2:20-23
I know your
deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. 2 Wake
up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds
unfinished in the sight of my God. 3 Remember, therefore, what
you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake
up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to
you. Rev. 3:1b-3
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold
nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So,
because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my
mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do
not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor,
blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined
in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can
cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So
be earnest and repent. Rev. 3:13-19
Here I am! I
stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I
will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. Rev.3:20
Whoever has ears, let them hear what the
Spirit says to the churches. Rev. 3:22
